Players fume at Open setup; USGA admits error

SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y. — One of America’s oldest and most respected courses, Shinnecock Hills also has seen its share of controversy when the U.S. Open is staged on the Long Island venue.

Saturday’s third round offered more fodder.
